Some of Consolidateds interfacing applications
currently in use on ships include:
-
Baud rate conversion: any recognized serial data source to any other
baud rate/ data format (e.g. 4800 (NMEA) to 57600, 4800 to 300, 9600
to 4800 baud) etc.
-
Smoothing of VTG (GPS speed and course made good, NovAtel BeeLine) for
ARPA radar input (Kalman filtering).
-
Automatic substitution of magnetic heading sentence (Honeywell Compass)
for GPS heading sentence (NovAtel BeeLine) when GPS heading not available.
-
GPS to speed log converter: converts NMEA GLL sentence information to emulate
standard 200 pulse per nautical mile speed log output.
-
Conversion of 200 pulse per nautical mile speedlog output (Sperry Doppler
Speedlog) to VHW (water speed and heading) NMEA sentence.
-
Event detection: detection of triggering event in NMEA input sentence,
and transmission of appropriate response.
-
NMEA to 4-20mA converter: Reading of NMEA DBT, and DPT sounder sentence
(Cetrek C Net 2000) with D/A conversion to 4-20mA analog current loop output.
-
Conversion of analog wind speed and direction from Young Instruments Windtracker
to NMEA MWV (wind speed and angle) sentence.
-
Conversion of analog rudder order and response data from Wagner Autopilot
Steering System to NMEA RSA (rudder sensor angle) sentence.
-
Conversion of tachometer analog output to NMEA RPM (shaft or engine revolution
rate) sentence.
-
Monitoring of up to 18 discrete voltage (AC/DC 5-120V) inputs (e.g. alarm
status, water tight door status etc.) and reporting as NMEA-format sentence.
-
Interfacing of fiber optic gyro sensor (KVH FOG) to ships navigation system.
-
Synchro position to NMEA sentence conversion for ships engine order telegraphs
(Chadburn-Bloctube engine controls).
-
Stepper and synchro gyrocompass (1:1, 360:1, 180:1, e.g. Sperry MK 37)
to NMEA HDT(heading true) sentence.
-
Digital Multiplexing of 8 NMEA input channels to one serial output channel.
-
Distribution of GPS (NMEA) data stream to up to 12 receiving devices.
-
Conversion of NMEA-0183 input string to Furuno AD-10S Radar output format.
